Frenchman not to have his contract renewed

Roger Lemerre has been axed by Tunisia, despite guiding them to the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations. The Frenchman's contract runs until the end of June this year but he has now been informed it will not be extended. Tunisia fell at the quarter-final stage in Ghana, with Cameroon coming out on top in a five-goal thriller. The African nation's media have been critical of the 66-year-old's tenure of late; despite the fact he won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004. "The FTF have decided not to renew the contract of national coach Roger Lemerre," Tunisian football official Jalel Tekeya told a press conference, adding Lemerre could leave as soon as a replacement is found.
