Warnock in Kuqi blast

Palace boss places striker on transfer list

Neil Warnock placed Shefki Kuqi on the transfer list following Crystal Palace's 2-0 defeat to Wolves. Kuqi was cheered ironically as he was substituted in the 70th minute, and he responded with a crude gesture at supporters. Warnock believes such behaviour is unacceptable and is now ready to let the striker leave Selhurst Park. "I have had a word with him and he has said he is sorry to me and the fans," said the Palace manager. "But I will be fining him two weeks' wages and transfer-listing him. I don't put up with that. "You cannot gesture. It is disappointing to see even though he had been provoked." Warnock had no complaints over the defeat, with well-taken goals by Michael Gray and Kevin Kyle proving the difference between the sides. Warnock said: "They were just two boring teams and it was going to take something special to break the deadlock. "There was not enough sparkle in midfield from us. It is not a case of the lads not trying hard enough, there is just not enough quality in the team."

McCarthy delight

The result lifted Wolves above Palace in the table but Mick McCarthy is refusing to talk-up his team's chances of making the play-off places. McCarthy said: "I did not even look at the table. I am not bothered where we are. We keep dashing our hopes by talking it up and then blowing it. We will just have to see where we are come the end of the season. "I am pleased Kevin scored that goal, though. I did not expect him to come here and hit 30-yard volleys over his shoulder and into the bottom corner. "That goal shows he has got ability and I am thrilled for him. It means so much for players to do well and that will help him."
