Manager leaving strugglers after home defeat
Manager Billy Dearden has left League Two strugglers Mansfield Town by mutual consent following the team's 4-0 drubbing by Rochdale at Field Mill.
The result means Mansfield are still second from bottom, two points adrift of safety, although they have two games in hand on Macclesfield in 22nd spot.
It brings to an end Dearden's second spell in charge of the Stags, where he had been at the helm since December 2006, as well as between 1999-2002.
He had admitted earlier in the season that this may have been his last at the club.
Chief executive Stephen Booth told the club's
official website: "After today's game, Bill and I have had a full and frank discussion.
Best interests
"We have agreed that it is in the best interests of Mansfield Town Football Club and Bill that we part company. With immediate effect Bill is no longer the manager of Mansfield Town.
"We will make an announcement within the next 48 hours as to how we move forward.
"We would like to wish Bill all the very best for the future."
