Ian Holloway says Sean Dyche deserves "huge credit" for masterminding Burnley's return to the Premier League at the first of asking.
The Clarets were relegated from the top flight in 2014/15 after finishing second from bottom. However, they secured an immediate return on Monday as Sam Vokes' goal earned a 1-0 win over QPR.
The result stretched the Clarets' unbeaten run in the Championship to 22 matches and Holloway said: "Sean deserves such credit. This is by far and away his best achievement.
"He has pressure this time, whereas last time they were under the radar. They were expected to do it and to deliver in such a way shows he has got so much talent.
"At this level, the unbeaten run is unbelievable. He's a genius."
Burnley had four players named in the PFA Team of the Year - Tom Heaton, Michael Keane, Andre Gray and Joey Barton.
Both Barton and Grey were signed at the start of the season and have excelled for the Clarets.
"Barton has been a real leader," said former Burnley boss Steve Cotterill on Sky Sports. "He didn't start the season with them and he has had to get up to speed and into the team.
"He has done that and has been a wonderful signing. But they have a great squad, great manager, great staff and supporters too. They deserve it. I am delighted for everybody associated with the club."
Cotterill also said he thinks Dyche will go down in Burnley folklore after securing a second promotion to the Premier League.
"He is not a selfish guy and that transmits to the players," he said. "They want it to be about the group. Once you have that relationship between the manager and the players you can have a successful club.
"Dyche will go down in folklore here and he absolutely deserves it."
