Ian Holloway's predictions: Wins for Leeds and QPR, Wolves and Hull to draw

Sky Sports pundit Ian Holloway predicts the outcome of the big Football League fixtures in the second weekend, tipping a Leeds win and a goal-fest between Wolves and Hull.

Holloway's Mystic Meg credentials might have deserted him where results were concerned - but he did correctly back Millwall's Steve Morison and Brighton's Kazenga LuaLua to make an early impact for their respective clubs.

The former QPR, Blackpool and Crystal Palace boss - now sharing his experience and insight in the Sky Sports studio as a Football League analyst - returns to run the rule over a string of standout fixtures in the Championship, as well as in League One and League Two.

Birmingham have had a great start, beating Reading and then Bristol Rovers in the cup. I’m not surprised because Gary Rowett came in and did a magnificent job last year - and without much money to spend. Having said that, I think Burnley are a tough proposition at home - we saw that even in the Premier League - and I think they might nick three points after rallying to grab one against Leeds last weekend.

I went for QPR last week and what a result that was for Charlton and Guy Luzon. I'm going to be in the Sky Sports studio for this one; I'll reckon that will get QPR to perform! I think it’s going to be close, to be fair. Which forward’s going to be playing for QPR? Charlie Austin is apparently in talks over a new deal but there's still doubt over his future. Have QPR got the goals without him? I’m going to go for a narrow home win, though.

MK Dons v Preston, Saturday 3pm

It was a fantastic start for MK Dons at Rotherham. I’ve seen them tipped to finish bottom in one magazine - at least I'm not the only one whose judgement might look questionable!

Karl Robinson has been linked with a string of jobs but I'm really glad he's still with the club and the football he's got them playing will continue to get recognition this year, I'm sure of it.

Having said that, I’m going against the trend. I think MK Dons will score but Preston have got that winning feeling of their own; they've been absolutely fantastic so far. I’m going for an away win.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-2 (Sky Bet odds 10/1)

Nottingham Forest v Rotherham, Saturday 3pm

They've had two defeats already, Forest, but I can’t see that happening again. I think they’ll be keen to put it right in front of their own fans and will be a little bit too strong for Rotherham.

Rotherham will put up a hell of a fight like they always do but I’ve gone for Forest - with Michail Antonio a key man - to get off the mark.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds 7/1)

Fulham v Brighton, Saturday 3pm

Fulham manager Kit Symons and Russell Slade of Cardiff react on the touchline

Brighton have picked up two wins out of two, by contrast, but I'm tipping a draw on Saturday. I think is going to be tight. Chris Hughton and Kit Symons are quite cagey managers - ex-defenders themselves - so I’m going to go for a 1-1 draw there. [Kazenga] LuaLua was terrific against Forest and he struck again against Southend.

I wouldn't back against him to make it three in a row but I think Brighton will have to settle for a point on the road.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds 5/1)

Reading v Leeds, Saturday 3pm

Leeds surprised me last week. They played really well against Burnley, looked really bright and scored a wonderful goal through Mirco Antenucci. The talent throughout the league is getting better all the time.

I’ve got a funny feeling this could be another draw for Leeds but I've plumped for an away win.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-2 (Sky Bet odds 11/1)

Wolves v Hull, Sunday 12pm, Sky Sports 5HD

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Nouha Dicko
Image: Nouha Dicko (l) and Chuba Akpom could make for a high-scoring draw in front of the Sky cameras

Wolves seem to be everybody’s favourites. Ken’s [Kenny Jackett] done a brilliant job and they’ve had two wins already. Steve [Bruce] has also overseen two victories - albeit through a penalty shootout in the Capital One Cup - and after making some midweek changes I'm hoping for a really exciting match between these two back at full strength. I think it’ll be open-ended, good football between two attacking sides.

I tried to get Chuba Akpom on loan last year but Arsenal wouldn’t let him out. He's a very, very exciting player. That’s why I’ve gone for a score-draw; I think the forwards on show will be well worth watching - I've had Nouha Dicko on loan before and he's got off to a flier himself. I want to pay myself to watch this one! If it ends up any different then that means the defences were outstanding.

It'll be a tough game but if someone comes out and wins it then they could really set an early marker.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds 14/1)

Ipswich v Sheffield Wednesday, Saturday 3pm

Nobody knew that much about Carlos Carvalhal but it’s a very impressive start for him at Sheffield Wednesday; they played some great stuff against Bristol City and then overpowered Mansfield. I really like Lewis McGugan; he's quality behind the front man, a big signing for them.

Mick McCarthy's one of my favourite managers. I think he's fantastic. Two tough teams, could go either way, but I'm going for another score-draw.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds 5/1)

Blackpool v Rochdale, Saturday 3pm

Blackpool's Bright Osayi-Samuel (left) and Henry Cameron celebrate after their side's first goal against Colchester

I’m going with my heart here and not my head: a home win for Blackpool. It will probably be the opposite to be honest - I think Rochdale have got a really good chance this season - but I’m going with my feeling for it. They had a draw last weekend and made some changes in the week and got stuffed at Northampton but I’m hoping they'll get that win under their belts.

Part of me will always be Tangerines. The time we had there and what the group managed to achieve - and when I say the group, I mean it: the supporters, the players, myself, the staff, the chairman, all of it. Everything came together at the right time. The energy was great. Jimmy Armfield, a Blackpool legend, said to me: "Thanks for the days you gave us in the sun." What a lovely line.

To be honest there wasn't much sun really because most of the time it seemed to rain. I went a bit rusty myself, I think! We were right up by the sea, the training ground’s right opposite and some days you couldn’t go out and train when it was so windy.

It seems a lifetime ago. Unfortunately that’s football; you feed off the energy when you can and then it dissipates and then it goes the other way sometimes. You have good days and bad days but they're days you never forget. They belong to you and the fans up there at the moment really want to feel like they've got their club back.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds 8/1)

Plymouth v Portsmouth, Saturday 3pm

I went for an outrageous 3-3 draw involving Portsmouth last week - well, at least I got the three Pompey goals right! I couldn't see Dagenham not scoring if Jamie Cureton was playing but unfortunately they've now conceded seven goals in two games.

I'm a big fan of Portsmouth - great club, great fans - and they could well get another win here but Home Park's a tough place to go, they had a great win at Wimbledon and my heart's ruling my head again! Home win to peg back Pompey - for now at least.

OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds 10/1)
