Anderlecht victory not enough in Munich

Bayern Munich ensured their passage into the quarter-finals of the Uefa Cup despite a 2-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena. The 6-2 aggregate victory was sewn up after the Bundesliga side won the first-leg 5-0, but goals from Serhat Akin and Aleksandr Yakovenko restored some pride for the Belgian champions. Lucio gave Munich a 6-0 aggregate lead after heading Jose Sosa's free-kick past Daniel Zitka in the ninth minute. Akin broke the Munich offside trap in the 20th minute to fire the visitors level on the night before Yakovenko capitalised on a mistake by Phillip Lahm to win the match with a well placed shot past Michael Rensing in the 35th minute.
