Konstantopoulos ruptures Achilles in first training session

Nottingham Forest's new loan signing Dimi Konstantopoulos will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury. The Greek goalkeeper only joined Forest earlier this week from Coventry City on a deal until the end of the campaign. But during his first training session with the League One club on Thursday morning, Konstantopoulos ruptured his Achilles tendon. He will require surgery on the injury and is likely to be sat on the sidelines for several months. The injury to Konstantopoulos leaves Forest short of goalkeeping cover as he had been signed to provide competition to Paul Smith. Konstantopoulos had been allowed to leave the Ricoh Arena after slipping down to Coventry's third choice following the recent loan capture of Kasper Schmeichel from Manchester City.
