Norwich boss delighted to avoid the drop

Glenn Roeder has hailed the effort of his players after Norwich secured their Championship status with a 3-0 victory against QPR. The Norwich boss took over at Carrow Road in October 2007 and he admits he was unsure if the Canaries would be able to avoid relegation as they began November with eight points. But goals from Ched Evans, Mark Fotheringham and Darel Russell secured the points against QPR to ensure Norwich remain in the second tier of English football. And Roeder has admitted his delight at the attitude shown by his players in their battle to avoid the drop. "It has been a long time since 1st November, when we had eight points and I had to tell a lot of people that I would definitely keep the chaps up," Roeder told Sky Sports News. "I can't remember the last team that had eight points in November and survived. "It has been a magnificent effort by everybody at the football club and at the end of the day it is those boys who cross the white line that go out and get the result. "I couldn't be more proud of them tonight."

Wrong decision?

QPR boss Luigi de Canio felt referee Phil Joslin had made a mistake in sending off Damion Stewart. "Maybe Lee Camp deserved to go but I didn't think Damion deserved the red card but the ref has made his decision and you'll have to ask him about that. "It was very hard for us today because we're already without three very important players and we lost another two when we had to reorganise because of the red card. "Any team would struggle in that sort of situation but the players battled hard - I've just said well done to them."
