Ajax closed the gap on Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven to two points after recording a thumping 5-1 victory at ADO Den Haag.

Erik Ten Hag's side were made to come from behind after Abdenasser El Khayati opened the scoring for the hosts in the 36th minute.

But they rose to the challenge as a Donny van de Beek goal and Dusan Tadic's penalty had them in front before the break.

Hakim Ziyech scored a second-half double, while Kasper Dolberg also scored after the interval to seal a comfortable victory.

With PSV drawing 1-1 against 10-man Feyenoord on Sunday, Ajax moved to within just two points of the summit.

It was goalless when Feyenoord's Sven van Beek was shown a straight red card for bringing down Steven Bergwijn in the 59th minute.

But the away side did not let their numerical disadvantage affect them as Nicolai Jorgensen put them in front in the 70th minute.

Feyenoord were not ahead for long, though, with Hirving Lozano levelling things up two minutes later to earn a point for the leaders.

Former Arsenal midfielder Daniel Crowley was on target as Willem II ended high-flying AZ Alkmaar's five-match winning run with a 2-1 victory.

After Marios Vrousai had put the hosts ahead in the 13th minute, Crowley scored his fifth league goal of the season before half-time.

Guus Til pulled one back for AZ 12 minutes before the end but Willem II held on to take all three points.

Mohammed Dauda, Martin Odegaard and Navarone Foor were all on the scoresheet as Vitesse cruised to a 3-0 victory over strugglers Emmen in the day's other game.
