Brazilian striker makes Old Lady switch

Juventus have confirmed the signing of Brazilian striker Amauri from Palermo while Antonio Nocerino has moved in the opposite direction. The deal ends weeks of speculation surrounding the 15-goal striker, who is believed to have cost around £17.9million, although some of that will be offset by the Sicilians paying £5.8million for Nocerino. 27-year-old Amauri, who is acquiring an Italian passport, had been reportedly interesting Serie A rivals along with several English clubs. "Amauri belongs to Juventus," read a statement on the club's official website. "The Brazilian forward signed a four-year contract." Amauri will battle it out with the likes of Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet for a starting place next term, although Vincenzo Iaquinta is expected to move on.
