Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has explained his reasons for axing Sven Goran Eriksson saying the Swede did not give him enough.
Eriksson, as widely expected, was sacked earlier this week after a month of speculation over his future at Eastlands.
City have moved to appoint Blackburn boss Mark Hughes as Eriksson's replacement with the Swede taking up a post with the Mexican national team.
Shinawatra admits City's poor form in the second half of the season and the embarassing 8-1 defeat at Middlesbrough on the final day of the campaign was the final straw.
"Sven is a good football general, but we need more," Shinawatra told the
Daily Mail.
"We must play with more consistency, more urgency. In the second half of the season, the slide was too bad, too much.
"We lost 8-1 at Middlesbrough. The shame of that."
