Defender turns loan into permanent arrangement

Newcastle United defender David Rozehnal has completed a permanent move to Lazio. Rozehnal joined Lazio on loan at the end of the January transfer window with the option of a long-term deal at Stadio Olimpico. The Italian club have exercised their right to buy the Czech Republic international, who only joined Newcastle 12 months ago. He cost the Magpies £2.9million from Paris Saint Germain and the Premier League club have confirmed that figure has been recouped. Rozehnal, who is currently on Euro 2008 duty with the Czechs, had signed a four-year contract at St James' Park. Though he had featured regularly under former Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce, he was allowed to move on by current boss Kevin Keegan. The 27-year-old, who can also play a midfield holding role, made 25 appearances for Newcastle, the last of which was the 3-0 League defeat to Arsenal at the end of January.
