Sky Sports' round-up of Sunday's action across the Women's Super League as Chelsea recorded their first win of the season after thrashing Man Utd 5-0 at the Leigh Sports Village.
Both teams failed to win on the opening weekend of the new campaign, but it was the visitors who dominated proceedings from start to finish in what was a chastening first home game in charge for new United boss Eva Olid.
Chelsea were already in cruise control at half-time after well-taken goals from Sjoeke Nusken and the impressive Keira Walsh, who found the net with a sweetly-struck drive from the edge of the area.
And the visitors continued to dominate in the second period as further goals followed from player-of-the-match Lauren James [61], Ellie Carpenter [65] and - with the last kick of the game - Lucy Bronze.
United's wait for their first league victory of the season goes on ahead of a testing trip to Arsenal on Saturday.
City cruise past Villa to maintain perfect start
Manchester City finished the second weekend of WSL fixtures as the only team to maintain a 100 per cent record with a 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
Villa had impressively held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw on the opening weekend, but the resilience they showed was broken within 14 minutes. The hero of Stamford Bridge, Akane Okuma, made a costly mistake as she flapped at a corner which allowed defender Jade Rose to put the visitors ahead.
Okuma could do nothing about the second as Mary Fowler smashed home from the edge of the box to double the lead. However, Villa went into the half with a glimmer of hope as Amalie Vangsgaard scored on her own debut just before the break to half the deficit.
Villa had their moments in search for an equaliser, but having hit the post earlier in the half, Khadija Bunny Shaw showed her ruthless streak with a beautiful dinked finish after the winning the ball back high up the pitch.
Player of the match Lauren Hemp, who secured her 100th goal involvement with an assist for Shaw's goal, was responsible for the fourth in stoppage time. Her shot deflected off Mathilde Harviken to find the far corner to round off a clinical display from Andree Jeglertz side.
It means the defending champions move two points clear at the top of the table as the only side to have maintained a perfect start.
Peyraud-Magnin heroics thwart Arsenal
France goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin produced an inspired performance between the posts as newly-promoted Crystal Palace drew 0-0 with Arsenal at the Emirates.
The home side had a whopping 30 efforts on goal in the game, nine of which were on target, but could not find a way past the shot stopper, 30, who joined the Eagles on loan last summer.
However, the best chance of the afternoon came Alessia Russo's way nine minutes before the interval, but for once the England international's shooting radar was off as the striker fired past a gaping goal having been picked out with a brilliant left-wing cross.
Brighton strike in last second to steal point from Birmingham
Kiko Seike's goal at the very death completed a dramatic comeback for Brighton, who came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with newly promoted Birmingham.
The Blues had proved a stubborn test for champions Manchester City last week and looked set to claim their first three points of the season when Oceane Hurtre and Lily Crosthwaite put them two goals ahead by the 60th minute with a pair of well-taken finishes.
Though the Seagulls piled on the pressure, former goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley was in inspired form, producing a string of saves to preserve her clean sheet.
However, she was let down by her defenders with less than 15 minutes remaining, as Olivia Garcia reacted quickest to her initial save to pull one back. Baggaley was then at fault as the visitors surrendered all three points in cruel fashion, with Seike's effort from a tight angle somehow sneaking underneath the goalkeeper.
More Merseyside woe as Charlton see red against Everton
Charlton saw themselves reduced to nine players at Goodison Park as their resistance was broken late on in a 1-0 defeat to Everton.
After losing 4-0 to Liverpool on the opening weekend, the Addicks produced a much-improved display against the other Merseyside side, but ultimately succumbed to late pressure when Holly McNamara's cross was turned into her own net by Leighanne Robe.
The goal, which came less than 15 minutes from time, arrived after Charlton had already been reduced to 10 players, with Ashleigh Neville shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Ruby Mace. Hawa Cissoko then compounded their misery, picking up two yellow cards in the space of two stoppage-time minutes to leave the Addicks with just nine players at the final whistle.
The defeat leaves newly promoted Charlton second from bottom, only ahead of Man Utd on goal difference.
Liverpool held to frustrating draw by Spurs
Liverpool were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Tottenham Hotspur despite dominating the contest at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
However, it was the visitors who went ahead against the run of play and in fortunate circumstances as Signe Gaupset got to the left-hand byline and centered, only for her cross to take a wicked deflection off Sam Kerr before looping into the net over goalkeeper Khiara Keating four minutes before half-time.
Gareth Taylor's side continued to dominate in the second period and deservedly drew level through Aurelie Csillag's near-post header just before the hour mark, however, despite pushing for the winner, they had to settle for a point.
