Defender agrees loan switch from Chelsea

Norwich have agreed a deal with Chelsea to take Ryan Bertrand back to Carrow Road on loan. The 18-year-old defender joined the Canaries on loan from Stamford Bridge for the second half of last season. He made a good impression and will now return to Norwich until January, with both parties open to the possibility of a season-long switch. Manager Glenn Roeder told the club's official website: "I'm very, very happy to be able to bring him back, he had become a fans' favourite. "An exciting young full-back, he likes to bomb forward and is tenacious in the tackle when defending. "I like to think he improved as a player while with us in the second half of last season and I like to think now that I know him well - his character, his drive and his motivation - that he will become a better player." Bertrand, who has also spent time on loan at Bournemouth and Oldham, had been linked with a move to Premier League new boys Hull.
