Striker eyeing promotion to Premier League after leaving Charlton

Chris Iwelumo is targeting promotion to the Premier League after completing his move to Wolves. The striker has signed a two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, after joining from Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee. He had spent just one season at The Valley and scored 10 goals in the Championship, but admits he could not turn down a switch to Molineux. "As a club Wolves speaks for itself," Iwelumo told the club's official website. "It's a fantastic club and I'm delighted to be here, and hopefully I will bring something to the table.

Holy Grail

"I get labelled as a target man because I'm 6ft 3in and I will win my fair share of headers, but I like to score a wee goal here and there as well. "That's what it's all about and hopefully I can keep that going here." Iwelumo is confident that Mick McCarthy's side have the potential to challenge for promotion to the top flight during the coming campaign. He added: "Last year I thought Wolves were unlucky just missing out on the play-offs, but I believe that if you're good enough you're old enough. "Every player wants to play at the top level and the Premier League is the Holy Grail. "I'm just really excited - this is a fantastic club with a really good chance of doing well."
