Benfica defender Jose Fonte has agreed to join Crystal Palace on a permanent basis.
Fonte spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park and made 26 appearances during his stint with the Championship club.
He is not part of Benfica's long-term plans and the two clubs have been discussing a fee for the 24-year-old.
Though a deal has still to be agreed, Fonte has confirmed that he is looking forward to rejoining Palace for the long term.
"My wish was always to stay at Palace," Fonte told the
Croydon Advertiser.
"I've made great friends here and I get along with everyone at the club.
"I love the club, so it's good to be back here. I'm very happy."
