Barca striker looks to rediscover killer instinct

Thierry Henry is hoping that the 2008/09 campaign will see him back to his best in front of goal. The Barcelona striker endured a disappointing first season in Spain last term, often being played out of position and struggling to rediscover the killer instinct which made him a legend at Arsenal. However, with a full pre-season behind him at the Catalan club, the Frenchman expects to find the net with unerring regularity next year. "This is a new year and I want to score goals. My goal for this season is to score," he said. "Last year, not playing well, I scored 19 goals and I hope to get more this season if I don't have any problems with injuries." Henry will be pleased to hear that new Barca coach Pep Guardiola plans to deploy him in his favoured central role next year, while last season's main competition for a staring spot, Samuel Eto'o, looks set to leave the club this summer. The 30-year-old is also unconcerned by rumours linking Barca with a move for his former Gunners team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor, and insists that he is capable of holding down a regular place in the side regardless of who arrives at Camp Nou.
