Tilson chasing deal for Chelsea midfielder

Southend manager Steve Tilson is interested in signing Chelsea youngster Anthony Grant on a permanent basis. The midfielder spent time on loan at Roots Hall last season and impressed Tilson with his performances. Tilson was able to include Grant in his side for Thursday's pre-season friendly against Billericay and is now hoping to complete a deal. "He's available if we want him and we will be speaking again on Friday to see if something can happen," Tilson told the club's official website. "Sometimes it is better the devil you know and I think he would be a good addition to the squad. "He has versatility and he slotted into place nicely on Thursday night."
