Gambian signs two-year deal at Fratton Park

Portsmouth have completed the signing of highly-rated Gambian striker Omar Koroma. The 18-year-old has impressed during a trial spell with Pompey and has now earned a permanent contract after playing in three pre-season friendlies. Harry Redknapp is delighted to have secured his services on a two-year deal from Banjul Hawks, and backed the youngster to break into the first team in the future. "I've been very impressed with him and I'm pleased that we've got him here," Redknapp told the club's official website.

Potential

"I like him very much. He's a good kid and he's got the potential to become a very good player. "Someone rung me and recommended him. We got him down here and we liked what we saw straight away. "There's a big gulf at the club between senior players and young kids. We've got nothing in between really but I think he can bridge that gap. "He's played out wide and through the middle for us in pre-season but he's a forward player really." Koroma is set to spend the coming season on loan at Norwich with Redknapp recently admitting that he was not quite ready for the Premier League.
