Defender joins from Reading on three-year deal

Stoke have completed the signing of Ibrahima Sonko from Reading for an initial fee of £2million. Skysports.com broke the news earlier on Friday that Sonko had passed a medical and agreed personal terms with The Potters. The Premier League club have now confirmed that the Senegalese defender has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at the Britannia Stadium.

Fine form

Sonko, who joined Reading from Brentford in 2004, has started the season in fine form to catch the eye of Stoke boss Tony Pulis. The 27-year-old becomes Stoke's seventh signing of the summer and chief executive Tony Scholes is thrilled to have brought him in. "We are delighted to make Ibrahima the club's latest signing," Scholes told the club's official website. "He is a quality addition to the squad and comes with plenty of Premier League experience having played in the top flight with Reading."
