Former striker back at Easter Road on three-year deal

Hibernian have ended Derek Riordan's Celtic heartache by re-signing their former strike ace on a three-year deal. The 25-year-old was lured to Celtic Park in 2006 after scoring 64 goals in 117 starts for Hibs but fell out of favour with manager Gordon Strachan and made just eight league starts for the Bhoys. Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen tried to bring Riordan back to Easter Road on loan last month, although he has now secured the player's return on a permanent deal after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Celtic. Riordan scored a total of eight goals for Celtic in 32 appearances, 19 of them coming from the bench. He was Paatelainen's second signing on transfer deadline day having earlier snapped up defender Souleymane Bamba from Dunfermline. Hearts had also shown an interest in Riordan only to pull out of a deal and leave the way clear for their Edinburgh rivals.
