Starlet nets fresh terms after impressing Di Matteo

MK Dons have moved to tie starlet Sam Baldock to a new deal that binds him to the League One club until 2010. The 19-year-old striker has impressed this season in making six starts and scoring two goals, having been handed plenty of playing time by new boss Roberto Di Matteo. Baldock is delighted to put pen to paper and is confident of showing further promise throughout the rest of the campaign. "I'm delighted to have extended my stay with the club," he told the club's official website.

Compete

"I've been here since I was 14-years-old and hope I can be here for many years to come. "I've been given a great opportunity by the manager this season, it's important that I build on that and continue to compete for a first team place." Di Matteo added: "Sam is an exciting young player with a bright future. "We've taken steps to secure his future because we believe and have trust in his ability. "Sam's got a great attitude, he wants to learn and if he keeps developing he'll be a very important player for this club."
