Striker arrives on one-month loan deal

Northampton have bolstered their attack with the signing of Karl Hawley from Preston. Hawley has inked a one-month loan deal with the League One hopefuls after Preston boss Alan Irvine decided to let him move on. The 26-year-old has struggled to replicate the goalscoring form he showed at Carlisle since moving to Deepdale and he is down the pecking order in Irvine's plans. Cobblers boss Stuart Gray believes Hawley will prove a valuable addition to his squad. "I'm delighted to have added Karl to the squad and he obviously comes straight into contention for the derby with Peterborough on Saturday," Gray told the club's official website.

Chasing

"I've been chasing Karl for a long time, I'm delighted to have him here and we are very thankful to Preston for allowing him to come out on loan. "I think Karl knows this division well and I remember him taking my eye when he played against us for Carlisle in one of my first games in charge here. He is an aggressive player and he has got a very good goalscoring record at this level." Hawley becomes the second player to leave Deepdale on loan following Joe Anyinsah's switch to Brighton.
