McDermott eager to experience first-team football

Milton Keynes Dons have snapped up Manchester City winger Donal McDermott on a month's loan. The Irish teenager has yet to make a first-team appearance for City and has been allowed to link up with the League One club to gain experience. He could make his debut against Oldham Athletic on Saturday and the winger is eager to make the most of his opportunity. "I'm delighted to be here and I'm looking forward to helping the team continue their good start to the season," McDermott told the club's official website.

Good opportunity

"This is a good opportunity for me to play some competitive football with a team and under a manager that like to play the game in the right way." MK Dons boss Roberto Di Matteo is confident McDermott will prove to be a valuable addition to his squad for the next month. Di Matteo said: "Donal will give us some more options in wide areas and bring some added pace and quality to the team. "We need to be patient with him because he is only 18, but he is an exciting player with a good background and I'm hopeful we can make the loan long term."
