Striker battling to be fit for Scotland clash
Norway striker Steffen Iversen will be given until the last possible moment to prove his fitness ahead of the clash with Scotland.
Former Tottenham striker Iversen, who scored the winner the last time the two sides clashed at Hampden Park in 2004, suffered a shin injury while in action with his current club Rosenborg.
That has made him a major doubt for the Group 9 clash on Saturday, live on
Sky Sports 1, with manager Age Hareide admitting his preparation revolves around the forward's availability.
Hareide will be forced to switch to a 4-5-1 formation should Iversen miss out, but he is giving the striker every chance to prove he is fit enough to partner John Carew against George Burley's men.
Everything
Hariede said: "Iversen will decide everything when it comes to the team selection but I'm still hopeful he will make it in time.
"Everything depends on Iversen's health. If Steffen is well enough to play we will play with two attackers. If not, we'll play with five midfielders and perhaps John Carew as a lone attacker.
"Then we have to build a strong midfield. I'm willing to wait until 90 minutes before the game before making my final choice on this matter."
Iversen flew into Glasgow with the rest of his team-mates having got through a brief workout on the treadmill without any adverse reaction.
Encouraging
But the former Wolves and Valerenga player admits he will need to be fully fit if he is to take his place in the starting XI.
He added: "I did a little run without feeling anything so that is a little more encouraging.
"I'm hoping to train with the rest of the boys in Scotland but I really have to train 100 per cent in order to play on Saturday."
