New boss confident of Bundesliga survival

New Borussia Monchengladbach coach Hans Meyer has stressed his belief that the club can escape relegation this season. The 65-year-old veteran returned for a second stint in charge of the five-time Bundesliga champions on Sunday after Jos Luhukay's sacking. "We are not worse than seven or eight other teams in the league," said Meyer. "There is enough quality in the team to solve the problem. "It can't be right that Cologne and Hoffenheim, who both finished behind us in the second division last season, are now so much better placed than we are." Meyer, who sat on the Gladbach bench from 1999-2003, returns to the club after Luhukay became the season's first managerial casualty earlier this month. The Foals are currently one off the bottom of the Bundesliga table with just four points from eight matches so far this season.
