Former Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli has returned to former club St Etienne.
Comolli was axed by Tottenham along with Juande Ramos and Gus Poyet last month following their poor start to the season with Harry Redknapp taking over at White Hart Lane.
Comolli had a successful spell at St Etienne between 2004 and 2005 as technical director and he was highly regarded at the club.
St Etienne have turned to Comolli to help ease their poor run of form by appointing him as technical director.
Laurent Roussey is under increasing pressure at St Etienne after seeing his side slump to their fifth successive defeat at home to Rennes on Sunday which leaves them in the bottom three.
St Etienne president Bernard Caiazzo confirmed they will hold talks with Roussey on Monday to discuss his future and he is hoping Comolli will be able to steady the ship at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
"Our first decision is to have a strong sporting directorship with Damien Comolli coing into the club in a post equivalent to that which he held at Tottenham," Caiazzo explained amid reports Comolli could become coach.
"We think it is a means of having a strong sporting directorship which can function better. It's vital for Saint Etienne to move on up."
On the future of Roussey, he added: "It's still too early to talk about Laurent Roussey."
