Midfielder suffers cruciate injury in United defeat

QPR midfielder Akos Buzsaky has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Buzsaky sustained the injury in QPR's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night and limped off in the 33rd minute. Head physio Paul Hunter took the midfielder for a scan on Wednesday when the player and club's worst fears were confirmed.

Surgery

Hunter told QPR's official website: "Unfortunately, Akos will be sidelined for between six to nine months. "His studs got caught in the turf and his right knee twisted and regrettably he now faces a long period out. "We've see the surgeon and he'll be going in for surgery in the coming days." The Hungarian joined the club from Plymouth Argyle in January 2008 after making a name for himself with the Pilgrims. After a good start to life at Loftus Road the 26-year-old has had a frustrating start to the season after suffering an ankle injury, and caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth is now resigned to being without his services for a lengthy period.
Unique
He said: "It's a massive blow for us. "Akos is a unique talent and he was just starting to hit peak form again following his spell on the sidelines at the start of the season with an ankle injury. "I'm devastated we've lost him, but all we can do is offer him support and wish him all the best with his recovery."
