Stephen Vaughan rejects bid
Chester City have rejected a takeover approach from John Batchelor.
The former York City chairman, who has seen recent bids to buy Mansfield and Accrington fall through, has now failed to get control of Chester.
Batchelor was wanting to take charge at The Deva Stadium and change the name of the team to Harchester United - after the fictional team who appeared in
Sky One's Dream Team series.
However, Chester owner Stephen Vaughan has confirmed he will not be selling to Batchelor.
"Under no circumstances will I be selling Chester City to John Batchelor," he said.
"I have more chance of taking over at Liverpool than he has of taking over here.
"I have no doubt that he's got the money, but he is not right for this football club. There were too many issues involved in the deal that I wasn't happy with."
Insistent
However, Batchelor remains insistent he could land the club.
"I will buy that club and Stephen will sell it to me," he said.
"I will explain to him why the future of football is in need of change. Chester City FC could define how clubs are run for the next 100 years.
"He has wasted a massive opportunity. I will not give in."
