David Beckham made his long awaited and much anticipated debut in
AC Milan's 2-2 draw with
Roma in the Stadio Olimpico.
The former England captain started the match and lasted unitl the 90th minute when he was finally replaced by Mathieu Flamini.
Roma took the lead through striker Mirko Vucinic after 22 minutes but Milan responded through Alexandre Pato when he scored twice in the first eight minutes of the second half to put the visitors ahead.
Vucinic grabbed his second of game when he equalised in the 72nd minute leaving Milan in third, nine points behind city rivals Inter while Roma stay 11th.
Juventus closed the gap on leaders Inter to four points after an Alessandro Del Piero free-kick was enough to ensure three points at home to lowly
Siena.
Napoli moved up to fourth and into that all important final Uefa Champions League place with a 1-0 win over
Catania with Cristian Maggio claiming the only goal.
Fiorentina's own Champions League hopes were dealt a blow after they lost at home to struggling
Lecce.
Guillermo Giacomazzi and Jose Ignacio Castillo fired the visitors into an early two-goal lead inside 11-minutes and despite Felipe Melo pulling one back for the hosts on 24 minutes Lecce held out for the win.
The result leaves Fiorentina in sixth a point behind Napoli and means Lecce move two points away from the drop zone.
Lazio remain in the hunt for fourth spot after they overcame relegation threatened
Reggina 3-2 thanks to a Goran Pandev hat-trick.
Bernardo Corradi had given Reggina an early lead from the spot after three minutes before Pandev turned the game around with strikes in the 13th and 21st minute.
Francesco Cozza equalised for the hosts on 61 minutes only for the Macedonian striker to score his third and the winner with 15 minutes remaining leaving Lazio seventh three points off the Champions League places.
Chievo remain rooted to the foot of the table, six points from safety, after they could only draw 1-1 away at fellow strugglers

The visitors took the lead after 43 minutes through Sergio Pellissier but Bologna hit back almost immediately with Marco Di Vaio scoring a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
Palermo moved up to eighth while
Atalanta slipped to tenth after the home side scraped a 3-2 win against their opponents.
Fabrizio Miccoli opened the scoring on 22 minutes before Mark Bresciano doubled the lead for Palermo on 39 minutes.
Atalanta hit back and drew level with goals from Sergio Floccari and Ferreira Pinto only for Edinson Cavani to score the winner nine minutes from time.
Udinese and
Sampdoria shared the points after a 1-1 draw. Gennaro Delvecchio opened the scoring for Sampdoria on 57 minutes but Maurizio Domizzi equalised for the hosts five minutes later.
