South American is keen for a switch
Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton is hoping to bring young Argentine midfielder Luciano Civelli to the club.
The 22-year-old wide man currently plays in his home country for Club Atletico Banfield but is apparently keen on a move to the UK.
And Magilton confirmed that Civelli is at the top of his list of potential new signings in January.
"We have got a few targets and I'd like to see a couple of new faces added to the squad if we can get them," Magilton told the club's
official website.
"We've had good reports on Civelli and the lad seems very keen to play in England. It's an on-going situation at the moment and probably because he's on the other side of the world, it's going to take time to be resolved one way or the other.
Potential
"It's very positive at the moment though and if we can make it work, the lad could be a big asset for us.
"We have identified the players we would like to bring in and we are not going to move from them. If it happens then it will give us a boost.
"It's a crazy month though, the transfer window, and we've already been linked with a whole string of players.
"It's the same up and down the country and we could probably all do without it but the transfer window in January is part of the game now and if you get the right player it can have a massive impact on the season and give you a real impetus.
Part of the game
"That said, it's not the easiest thing for players to come in to a new club and make an immediate impact. They need time to settle down and get used to the new surroundings and new team-mates.
"If we get in the players we want then fantastic; if we don't, then I have every confidence in the squad we have here."
