Plymouth struggling to sign temporary deals

Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock is struggling to add loan signings to his squad. The Pilgrims are currently three points above the Championship relegation zone and Sturrock is keen on adding to his side in order to beat the drop. The Scot cited Plymouth's isolated location as a reason players are not attracted to the club. "The first problem we have is that we have got to get players to come here," he said.

"The geography has put a lot of people off. Even this week, I have had many a 'no' so far and it's nothing to do with the club, the team or anything else. "People are just not prepared to move themselves to this area and the distances they have to travel. "We know that's in our make-up and there is nothing much we can do about it." Sturrock also blamed regulations controlling the amount of on-loan players allowed in a match-day squad for his inability sign any more players to temporary deals. But he is still hopeful at least one more deal can be completed to help the fight for survival. He added: "We have been chatting to several clubs about the availability of some players. "It's a difficult time to bring somebody in because we have five (loan signings) at this minute in time, and you are only allowed five in the 16. "If you bring another one or two in, one or two will not be stripped, and that makes it even more difficult. "But I think there is still one area of the team we have to strengthen, and possibly another one. "At this juncture, I'm very hopeful we will get another one (loan) in."
