Former QPR boss brought in to replace axed Beretta
Former QPR boss Luigi De Canio has been named as the new manager of Serie A strugglers Lecce.
Lecce, who are second from bottom of the table, sacked coach Mario Beretta on Monday after a dismal run of results.
Four successive defeats were followed by Sunday's 0-0 home draw with rock-bottom Reggina, which proved to be the final straw for the club's board.
A statement on Lecce's
official website read: "Lecce announces Mario Beretta has been relieved of the position of coach.
"Luigi De Canio is the new first team coach."
De Canio, who has also managed Udinese, Napoli, Reggina, Genoa and Siena, spent less than eight months at the helm of QPR and left Loftus Road in May last year.
