Kevin Gall has returned to Carlisle after his loan spell at Port Vale came to an end.
Boss Glover in hunt for new signing before deadline
Striker Kevin Gall has returned to Carlisle after a calf injury prevented him from extending his loan spell with Port Vale.
The Valiants were set to extend Gall's loan by a further month but he picked up the problem during Saturday's 1-0 win over Bradford.
Gall has since undergone a scan and faces up to three weeks on the sidelines, prompting Vale boss Dean Glover to look elsewhere.
"Hopefully Kevin will go back to Carlisle and get himself fit, but I can't take a gamble on him if he's going to be out for between one and three weeks," Glover told
The Sentinel.
"He gave us another dimension in attack so I think we will need another body in for the run-in. We need a wide midfielder because we have enough options through the centre.
"It's now a case of ringing around our contacts and seeing what turns up."
Glover now faces a race against time if he is to attract another player before Thursday's 5pm deadline.
