Former Leeds star makes League One switch

Carlisle have pulled off a coup by signing former Leeds defender Ian Harte on a short-term deal. Harte arrives at Brunton Park on a free transfer after leaving Blackpool in February. The 31-year-old came close to a move to Scottish side St Mirren last month only to pull out of the switch at the last minute. Harte could make his debut this weekend against Northampton and Cumbrians boss Greg Abbott was delighted to land the Irishman.

Experienced

"Ian is a very experienced player and that's probably what we need at the moment," Abbott told the club's official website. "We are pleased that he has decided that he wants to roll his sleeves up and help us out with the situation we find ourselves in at the moment. "He will bring a calmness to the back line and he is another who will help the younger players along. Much of his experience is at the very highest level and that is a very good thing for us to have on board."
