Wales midfielder Carl Robinson has announced his retirement from international duty. The 32-year-old has decided to quit the international scene after 10 years and 52 caps for Wales. The former Wolves and Sunderland man admits his travelling commitments, due to playing in the MLS for Toronto, played a part in his decision to focus on his club career. "If I was in the UK I would still carry on playing for Wales but this is a decision purely based on my life now is in North America," said Robinson. "I want to play as long as I can there with the objective of getting into management. "After chatting to my family and after talking to John (Toshack) at length on Sunday night, this is the right decision for me. "It was not an easy decision and not one I have made lightly. I am a very patriotic boy and I have enjoyed playing for my country. "But I have travelled from the other side of the world to play for my country now for the last two years, so I just feel the time is right to go. "What I have learned over the past five or so years with John has been fantastic and I appreciate him including me in the squad."

Denial

Meanwhile, Wales have denied reports that Jason Koumas has retired from international football. Speculation intensified that Koumas was considering his international future after a reported showdown with Toshack. Koumas missed Wednesday's 2-0 defeat by Germany through injury and the Football Association of Wales have denied suggestions the Wigan midfielder has retired. FAW spokesman Ceri Stennett said: "Jason did have a private discussion with [boss] John Toshack but he has not retired from international football."
