Ajax close gap; Volendam off the bottom

Ajax moved to within a point of second placed FC Twente after sealing victory at Roda, whilst Volendam moved off the bottom of the table with a shock win over Feyenoord. Twente were held to a draw at NEC Nijmegen on Friday evening, and Ajax took advantage with victory in Kerkrade. Luis Suarez put Ajax ahead after just two minutes and then just after the hour their advantage was doubled by Ismail Aissati. Sekou Cisse pulled one back for Roda, but Ajax held out for the win. Volendam are now within two points of safety after they came from behind to beat Feyenoord 2-1. Roy Makaay put Feyenoord ahead after ten-minutes but the home side battled in the second half and won it thanks to a Dominique van Dijk brace (59 & 83). Volendam's win takes them above De Graafschap, who earned a 0-0 draw at Vitesse Arnhem. Finally, Willem II sealed a 2-0 win over NAC Breda - who were reduced to nine men. Donny Gorter was sent off on 25 minutes, but Arjan Swinkels then missed from the spot. Willem did not go ahead until the hour mark when Sergio Zijler scored. NAC then had their second man red-carded as Tim Gilissen went, before Willem wrapped up the win through George Mourad.
