Albion bid to beat the drop, while Latics look for first Royle win

Brighton host out-of-sorts Oldham as they desperately bid for points in their battle to beat the League One drop. Russell Slade's side are currently three points from safety but have a game in hand over Carlisle who currently sit fifth from bottom of the table. Oldham are yet to win in six games under Joe Royle since he replaced the sacked John Sheridan at Boundary Park and with just three games of the season to go, will be desperate to chalk up that maiden victory. Andrew Whing and Gary Dicker are expected to be fit for the home side after recovering from knocks this week. Right-back Whing should shake off a slight tendinitis problem in his knee and midfielder Dicker has recovered from the dead leg he suffered against Colchester, meaning Slade could name an unchanged side. Slade is further boosted by the return of Jason Jarrett and Chris Birchall from illness, but fellow midfielder Al Bangura is still sidelined with chickenpox. Striker Glenn Murray has had another operation to repair a stomach tear and misses out along with skipper Nicky Forster (knee) and full-back Jim McNulty (kidney). Defenders Colin Hawkins and Adam Hinshelwood (both calf) proved their fitness in the reserves this week and could be involved.

Latics news

Royle will welcome back Daniel Jones for the trip to Brighton. Jones missed Monday's 1-1 draw with Crewe after his red card in the Good Friday clash with Carlisle and should go straight back into the starting line-up. Midfielder Ian Westlake could also return to contention following the head injury he sustained against Peterborough earlier in the month. A CT scan came back all-clear earlier in the week but the 25-year-old will continue to be assessed before a decision is made. On-loan goalkeeper Shane Supple will miss out after returning to Ipswich earlier in the week for treatment on a knee injury so Greg Fleming will again deputise. Matty Wolfenden should again make the bench after making a successful comeback from a thigh injury on Monday but Kelvin Lomax is unlikely to feature as he continues to struggle with a dead leg.
