AZ Alkmaar have won the Eredivisie title after Ajax were hammered 6-2 at outgoing champions PSV Eindhoven.
Ajax needed to win at Philips Stadion to deny AZ the Dutch crown after the leaders had lost to Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday.
But
PSV boosted their hopes of a top-four finish after a resounding win as the hosts scored three goals in each half.
Edison Mendez opened the scoring for PSV midway through the first half before Ibrahim Afellay increased the lead just past the half-hour mark.
Nordin Amrabat added another on 41 minutes only for Ajax to pull a goal back before half-time through Luis Suarez.
Jason Culina and Balazs Dzsudzsak scored to make it 5-1 before Miralem Sulejmani replied for Ajax, only for substitute Otman Bakkal to have the final say with PSV's sixth goal in the last minute.
The victory allowed PSV to move into fourth spot on goal difference after
Heerenveen were beaten 2-1 at
Utrecht.
Paulo Henrique gave Heerenveen a third-minute lead only for Utrecht to quickly draw level through Michael Silberbauer's seventh-minute goal.
Utrecht snatched the points a minute from time thanks to Gregoor van Dijk's penalty after Heerenveen substitute Darryl Janmadt had been sent off.
Willem II Tilburg came from three goals down to force a 3-3 draw at home to struggling
ADO Den Haag.
The visitors stunned their hosts after Karim Soltani scored twice inside the opening half-hour before Richard Knopper scored early in the second half.
Mohamed Messoudi set Willem II's fightback on its way on 71 minutes, Frank Demouge scored 60 seconds later and substitute George Mourad equalised
