Sky Sports is launching a survey to find out the best player ever to wear a Stockport shirt - and we would like you to get involved. We are asking fans of each of the 92 English League teams and 12 Scottish Premier League sides to nominate their all-time favourite footballers. The heady days under the tutelage of Dave Jones in the 90s were not too long ago. Perhaps you want to nominate the striking exploits of Brett Angel, Alun Armstrong or Kevin Francis from that time. Or maybe you'll opt for the defensive rock during that time that was Mike Flynn. The inspirational skipper played 460 times for the Hatters between 1993 and 2002. Signed from Preston for £150,000 Stockport were rejecting bids of up to £900,000 for him just six years later. What about the legendary Andy Thorpe? The Stockport-born defender made his debut as a 17-year-old in 1978 and went on to make a club record 555 appearances over two spells at Edgeley Park. Fittingly he made his final appearance for the club at Wembley in 1992 in the Autoglass Trophy Final in front of 48,000 fans. What about the achievements of Bob Murray, who held the appearance record before Thorpe. The Scotsman signed for the Hatters in 1951 as a 19-year-old and went on to play in 226 consecutive League and Cup games between August 28th 1954 and February 14th 1959. Is it impressive enough for your vote? Other men who may get your nomination could be Chris Marsden, Sean Connelly, John Rutter or current manager Jim Gannon for his earlier playing exploits. To make your selection please complete the form below and tell us why you are putting your chosen nominee forward. Once we have received all your nominations, we will narrow down the selections for each side to the 10 leading candidates. You can then vote for your personal favourite. After all votes are cast we will reveal the winners ahead of the 2009/10 season and crown the Stockport County's greatest-ever player!
