Arminia Bielefeld moved out of the Bundesliga relegation zone after a 2-2 draw at Bayer Leverkusen. The visitors appeared on a course for a vital win when leading 2-1 until Patrick Helmes equalised 11 minutes from time. Leverkusen made the breakthrough on 21 minutes when Renato Augusto's cross was headed home by Stefan Kiessling. Yet Bielefeld were ahead before half-time and equalised within a minute of falling behind after Manuel Friedrich turned the ball into his own net. Bielefeld took the lead on 39 minutes when Robert Tesche nodded home Thorben Marx's set-piece delivery from close range. However, the top-flight strugglers were denied a crucial three points when Helmes fired a low shot into the corner of the net on 79 minutes.
