Iraq skipper seals Dutch move
FC Twente have swooped to sign Iraq captain Nashat Akram.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who had a trail with Manchester City last season, has penned a three-year deal with Steve McClaren's men.
Despite his relative young age, he has already amassed 75 caps for his country and he will add to that this summer when Iraq feature in the Confederations Cup.
Akram arrives on a free transfer from Qatarian side Al-Gharafa and his signing has pleased his new boss McClaren.
"We've been following Nashat for a year. He's a young and very talented player, who has bags of experience given his age," he said.
Akram added: "This is a dream come true, to play in Europe. FC Twente is a good club with a big coach.
"I want to develop further at FC Twente and grow together with the club."
