Former Marseille centre-back set to pen five-year contract

Joseph Yobo is poised to sign a new five-year deal with Everton, according to the defender's agent. Yobo's current contract is due to expire in 2010 and talks have been ongoing over an extension. The Nigeria international has had an impressive season for the Toffees and he now looks set to commit his foreseeable future to the Merseyside club. "There is no question of wage parity as Yobo is already one of the club's best paid players," said Yobo's representative, John Shittu. "I can tell you we have agreed a new five-year deal in principle which he's likely to sign before the FA Cup final on 30th May. "Everton were happy to give Yobo the new deal even at 28-years-old and he'd also love to stay with the club. "At any rate he does not want to leave the United Kingdom and would only consider a move if it is to any of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal. It's a good deal and we are happy with it."
