Saints considering £1m-plus offer for striker
Nottingham Forest have launched a bid to sign striker David McGoldrick from relegated Southampton.
Saints' drop into League One, coupled with their financial difficulties, is expected to lead to several players leaving St Mary's over the summer.
McGoldrick scored 14 goals for the club last season and has been a long-term target for Forest boss Billy Davies.
The Championship club have now confirmed making a £1million-plus bid and are waiting for Southampton's answer to the offer.
"We have made a bid that is in excess of £1m and are waiting for a response," chief executive Mark Arthur told the
Nottingham Evening Post.
Davies is keen to improve his attacking options for next season and has also lined up a deal for Bristol City forward Dele Adebola.
