Winger seals three-year contract after signing for £400,000

Swansea City have announced the signing of Nathan Dyer from Southampton for £400,000 on a three-year deal. The capture should come as no surprise after the winger expressed a desire to turn his loan move at Liberty Stadium into a permanent deal. The 21-year-old joined the Swans in January for the start of a four-month stay in south Wales and impressed everyone with his darting wing play. Now that the paperwork has gone through, Dyer is already eyeing promotion to the Premier League despite manager Roberto Martinez's future hanging in the balance. "I want to be playing Premiership football and I want to get there with Swansea," he told the club's official website. "We just missed out on the play-offs last time around, which was unfortunate, yet still an achievement in itself considering the club just came up from League One. "But I think we can go that one step further next season and finish in a higher position."

Free-flowing football

Dyer insists that he never had any doubts about joining the Swans and added that their free-flowing football was what first attracted him to the club. "I'm really happy that it's all signed and down on paper and I can't wait to get going in pre-season," he added. "From the moment I first moved here I felt that it would have been the right move for me in order to progress with my career and develop as a player, especially the way Swansea play football. "I remember watching from the stands at the Liberty in December when I was on loan at Sheffield United, the way they played and moved the ball around was unreal and I'm just happy that I've been given a chance to be a part of that. "That's how I like to play." Dyer becomes Martinez's second summer signing after Stephen Dobbie arrived from Queen of the South last month.
