Galatasaray have confirmed the appointment of Frank Rijkaard as Michael Skibbe takes over at Frankfurt.
Former Gala boss Skibbe goes to Frankfurt
Galatasaray have confirmed the appointment of Frank Rijkaard as their new boss following the departure of Bulent Korkmaz.
The Dutchman has been out of work since a five-year spell in charge of Barcelona came to an end 12 months ago.
The experienced tactician has now been given the opportunity to take the reins at Turkish club Galatasaray, who have endured a disappointing season.
Gala only managed to finish fifth in their domestic league and will be hoping for much more success under Rijkaard.
They will also want a period of stability after Korkmaz lasted only three months in the hot-seat.
Michael Skibbe had been in charge before Korkmaz but was sacked in February following a run of disappointing results.
Skibbe has now replaced Friedhelm Funkel at the helm of Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Frankfurt finished in the bottom half of the table in 2008/9 and Skibbe has been challenged to improve their fortunes next season.
"In a press conference on Friday morning, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt will introduce new head coach Michael Skibbe," read a statement on the club's
official website.
"The 42-year-odl football coach will start as Friedhelm Funkel's successor at the start of training on June 29."
