Youth star turns down professional deal at Ashton Gate
Bristol City youth star Rob Stambolziev has turned down a professional contract with the club.
The 18-year-old was one of four players offered a deal at the end of the season, with Marlon Jackson, Ashley Kington and Joe Edwards all accepting the terms put to them.
Stambolziev, though, could sign for another club after failing to accept the Robins offer.
City boss Gary Johnson has revealed that Stambolziev was unhappy with the deal presented to him and concedes that the youngster will likely leave Ashton Gate.
Talks
"I have had a couple of conversations with his representatives and we made him an offer," he said.
"It is the same offer we always make our first-year professionals, where they stay on that until Christmas time and then we renegotiate if they are doing well."
He added: "The representatives have told me that the lad is not happy with the figures that have been given to him.
"I find it quite strange that he couldn't live off that and think his representatives are trying to find him a club in Greece.
"We still hold his registration, so there would be compensation if a club is interested in taking him.
"His representatives have a big say in these things and that is a shame when it comes to young lads."
