Malaga have completed the signing of Xavi Torres from Barcelona on a four-year contract.

Malaga have completed the signing of Xavi Torres from Barcelona on a four-year contract. The 22-year-old is a product of the Villarreal youth academy and joined Barca in 2007. He featured regularly for the Catalan club's reserve side during his days at Camp Nou, with B team coach Pep Guardiola a staunch admirer of his talents. With Guardiola having since taken charge of first-team affairs, Torres was awarded his senior debut towards the end of the 2008/09 campaign. He has, however, been deemed surplus to requirements by the Primera Liga champions and is now set to take on a new challenge in Andalusia.
