Saints striker joins Forest for seven-figure fee
Nottingham Forest's squad has been bolstered by the addition of Southampton striker David McGoldrick.
Forest agreed a seven-figure sum with The Saints for McGoldrick, who was raised in the Wollaton area of Nottingham.
The Nottingham-born striker began his career with Notts County before joining Southampton aged just 16-years-old in 2004.
McGoldrick, who has described the move home as a 'dream', is relishing the prospect of helping Forest win promotion.
Happy to be back
"I'm a Nottingham lad and I'm so happy to be back," he told the club's
official website.
"I was with Southampton for five years and to get the chance to come back home where my family and friends are is a dream.
"When Forest got promoted from League One I said to a few people that I expected them to be a force in the Championship.
"For some reason they weren't last season but with the players who are already at the club - and those they are being linked with - I think it promises to be an exciting future. I'm delighted to be a part of it."
