Defender's contract terminated by mutual consent

Chris Coyne is expected to join Perth Glory having ended his contract with Colchester United. The midfielder is said to be discussing personal terms with the Australian side after his Us contract was terminated by mutual consent. A move to Glory would see him link up with brother Jamie whilst remaining under the watchful eye of the Australian national coach ahead of next year's World Cup finals. Having struggled to secure a regular place in Colchester's first string last season, the Brisbane-born defender admitted he felt it was time for a new challenge.

Moving on

"Unfortunately, after 18 months here, it's time to move on," he told the club's official website. "It was made clear that I wasn't going to play week in, week out and I felt that I had to look at that and address it. "Also, there isn't much of a chance for the Australian manager to watch League One football but in Australia, I'm guaranteed to play 27 games in front of him." He added: "I really enjoyed playing at Layer Road and coming to the new stadium was fantastic for the club. "As with Arsenal and Southampton, the first season was like a bedding in year but I think they will push on this year and I wish them all the best."
